Smile Hotel Matsuyama

For the price you get it is comfortable and considered clean, in a good location. If possible, I would recommend getting a non smoking room. Our entire floor hallways smelled very rug bad of cigarette smoke and our room was also very bad. We had the window open the entire time.

Well situated near both the castle and the entertainment district.

The bathroom is very compact which is ok but the sink was angled in my first room and there was a moldy smell in the bathroom of the second room, but only after the door was closed a long time. It LOOKED clean though, maybe the smell came from the shower drain.

The check-in was okay ( they asked for passport). There were free toiletries and sleeping pajamas. There's a laundry area on the second floor. You can request for new towels daily. The windows are big and there's a humidifier

The room advertised for two person is a bit small. The room is not pristine, there were defects with temporary solutions (like taped). The exhaust of the bathroom is dirty with dust accumulation and some molds forming on some parts of the bathroom. There's also a smell in the room when you enter. The matress and the futon are old and thin.

We loved our stay here. It was a a great area close to the trolley, Matsuyama Castle, a peaceful gorgeous park, restaurants, grocery stores, Dogo Onsen and a dope dance studio. They even offered us Jammies to wear, many amenities and changed our towels daily for no extra charge. The room was more spacious then many in Japan. The WiFi was strong. They had bikes to rent. The window had a pleasant city view and wasn’t blurred out like many Japanese hotel/hostel/home windows. The cleaning staff were friendlier than at many other places and spoke with us. It was a super clean space with a lovely long desk for working. Water pressure was fantastic. Warm and cozy place.

Wish there were two chairs at the desk as we are two people. Wish there were more bikes to rent; there were only 2 and it’s the best way to see the city in our opinion!

Breakfast was a deal and delicious! Also the bed is more a Queen size than double.

Because the bed was large, the walk space is narrow.

Great budget hotel in good location. Staff friendly and had a good breakfast. Had parking so a bonus for us. Also very quiet.

The room was a very large for the price and the bed was quite comfortable! It's close to a streetcar stop too

A nice hotel, very well kept, with friendly and helpful staff. I enjoyed my stay and the amenities of the hotel: I will certainly stop here again!

Very well located

The wifi was sometimes unstable. But when it worked, it was a fast connection!

The staff were welcoming and we appreciate their help with takkyubin, allowing us to easily purchase a large carton box to pack our souvenirs in and make payment without worrying about it at our next destination.

The toilet had an unpleasant, musty smell and the room wasn't cleaned properly when we first arrived.

Location was very good. Near the tram stop. Convenience stores nearby. Restaurants and shopping with walking distance.

The location is really convenient, within walking distance from all the most important touristic attractions and shopping areas. Once in town, I never needed to use public transport; but if you wish, the tram stop is a few hundred meters from the hotel.

The hotel is good but not exceptional, it's a great compromise for this price range and location. It has everything you need, perhaps it's not too fancy though. If you care for substance more than form, this hotel works perfectly.

The emplacement is incredible, you can go by foot to the castle and there are transports just in front to go to the dogo onsen (you can also go by foot) There are big windows so you can have a lot of air easily which is always enjoyable

Very dirty room, stains and dust everywhere.

Good location, and relatively decent price for a couple.

Bed was too soft, and pillows were too hard. Wasn't able to control the a/c to cold much, room got warm fairly quickly.
